If you are an avid scrapbooking fan, then you know all too well how your supplies seem to multiply on their own. After a while, it can be difficult to keep all the ribbons, embellishments, papers, stickers, and other scrapbooking supplies in an organized fashion. That scrapbook clutter can really cost you time and money. You want to enjoy your hobby, and not waste time hunting for supplies that you know you have. Proper organization can protect your scrapbook supplies and let’s face it, the cost of those items can really add up. Scrapbook organization is an important part of your hobby. Get organized and have more time to do what you enjoy, make scrapbooks!

The goal of scrapbook organization is to store like materials together. Therefore, you will need to inventory your current supplies and put them in sorted piles. You will probably have scrapbook paper of varying sizes, embellishements, pens, rubber stamps, die cuts, cut outs, scrapbook stickers, ribbon, and adhesives.

Begin by taking an assessement of the types of supplies that you have. Most likely, you will have an assortment of scrapbook papers in various sizes. Sort the paper according to size so you have stacks. For example, stack up the 12 x 12 papers in one pile, 8-1/2 x 11 in another pile and so on. Once we have papers sorted by size, then sort them by color or theme. This will make it much easier when working on a project because you can grab the type of paper you want quickly. Alternatively, it makes it easy to see what paper you do not currently have so you know you’ll need to purchase some. Papers can be stored on stackable paper trays or with a portable paper organizer.

Next in line for organization are the embellishments. It’s easy to accumulate a large amount of brads, ribbons, paper clips, bottle caps, and the like. Gather all these embellishments together and store them in small containers with lids.
